Description
Fountain of the ancient Charterhouse of Meyriat in the Bugey mountains (France)
The Charterhouse of Meyriat was founded in 1116. The activity of the monks continued until the French Revolution. Religious congregations were banned in 1791. The Charterhouse was abandoned, then destroyed and looted. Only a few ruins are visible today.
