Description
This is a tinder polypore mushroom that grows on a tree trunk. It is a parasite which attaches itself to weak or injured trees. It was used as a fire starter since prehistoric times because it easily ignites in contact with the sparks produced by the percussion of two stones.

Ce champignon polypore est un amadouvier. C'est un parasite qui se fixe sur des arbres faibles ou blessés. Il était utilisé comme allume-feu dès la préhistoire car il s'embrase facilement au contact des étincelles produites par la percussion de deux pierres.
